This week, major upgrades were released for the majority of Apple's operating systems, including watchOS 11 for smartwatches. Fans of the Apple Watch were taken aback when they learned that some outdated watch faces had been deleted in the latest update.
Redditors (discovered by our pals at TechRadar) observed that the Faces were missing. The Siri Face, Explorer, Numerals, and Chronograph are among the faces that are absent.
"I'm super disappointed that they've taken away both the Explorer and the original Chronograph faces," stated the original poster. "These were my two favorite, and quite a bit more functional than most of the new faces that have been introduced over the last couple of years."
Chronograph Pro, Numerals Duo, and Numerals Mono are among of the other variations of those faces. They're not the same, though, and customers complained that the upgrade instantly replaced their watch with an unwelcome face or that they were being forced to switch.
Many fantastic new health and fitness features have been added with the most recent watchOS upgrade. Three new Watch faces were introduced, one of which is an enhanced Photos face that makes use of artificial intelligence to suggest photos. The other two are Flux, which is dynamic and makes use of the Apple Watch Series 10's 1Hz display. It seems a little cartoony. The analog-style Face called Reflections is designed to go well with the titanium finish.
Many members of the Apple Watch subreddit advise consumers to voice their complaints about the missing faces by visiting the Apple.com feedback page.
We are unaware of any technological justification for Apple to delete those Watch faces. We wonder if Apple eliminated the missing faces for aesthetic reasons because the newer ones are more abstract or creative. That is, however, a weak justification for removing something that customers obviously appreciated.
Regarding the missing faces, Tom's Guide has contacted Apple; if the business answers, we will provide an update.
Many people mentioned that ever since the first Apple Watch launched in 2014, they had always preferred the Chronograph as their watch face. It was one of the initial faces available for selection.

This is not the only business that has done this year outside Apple. Some earlier faces vanished from Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy watch users' faces when Wear OS 5 was released in July. The main cause of this was Google's increased emphasis on the Watch Face Format, which was unveiled in 2023 and rendered certain faces incompatible.
Additionally, posting an Apple Watch face in a threaded message to your iPhone's Messages app will cause Messages to crash repeatedly. This means that Apple faces aren't doing well outside of Apple Watch.
We believe that the option put out by several Redditors is the simplest. Owners of Watches should be able to download earlier faces from Apple. For the time being, fans of the obscene Flux face are stuck with Chronograph, Explorer, and Numeral
