Apple reserved time during its "Glowtime" presentation to discuss the new phones' audio recording features, not to be outdone by the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max's improved video recording capabilities. In particular, the iPhone 16 Pro devices' new Audio Mixing function lets users modify how sound is captured during video recordings so that the audio may mix in many sources or concentrate on one.
With two actors enacting a scene inside a restaurant and a waitress off screen interrupting them with food orders, Apple demonstrated how their system operates. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max can effectively eliminate any extraneous background noise and limit the audio to the people in the camera by using audio mixing. The fact that Apple keeps bringing up this in relation to the iPhone 16 Pro variants makes it fascinating.
However, it appears that the regular iPhone 16 devices will get this. After a brief perusal of the iPhone 16 lineup's specifications page, it is evident that the Audio Mix function is located under the video recording area. Apple's press release for the iPhone 16 has this information as well; first, it appeared that Audio Mixing was a function exclusive to Pro models. This is significant information for anybody considering purchasing one of this year's non-Pro models, particularly the iPhone 16, which is the least expensive model.
We're specific about how the iPhone 16 gets even more "Pro" features than the previous model, which narrows the difference between them significantly, in our hands-on review. For instance, the iPhone 16 contains the same Apple Intelligence features as the Pro versions, but it also adds spatial video recording and macro photography capabilities with its new ultrawide camera.

The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus now have the option to adjust the audio after video shooting thanks to the addition of Audio Mix to the list. More power over adjusting the audio to match their situations will be given to shooters. To ensure that the voice behind the camera has the same presence as the subject being filmed in front of the camera, for instance, you may employ audio mixing to properly balance the audio during interviews.
On Friday, September 13, preorders for the full range of iPhone 16 models will open, and on September 20, they will go on sale. The iPhone 16's unexpected addition of Audio Mixing enhances its photographic skills even more, especially given that its starting price is $799.
